Kathmandu. Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has said that the government’s efforts to improve the economy in the recent past are commendable.
Dhakal made the remarks at an important professional personality award programme here today. “I appreciate the efforts of the present government to improve the economy as it also has the opportunity to complete one year in office,” he said.
Dhakal said the Federation and the private sector have been advocating various programmes and policies to expand the sluggish economy and promote investment in Nepal. “The government has extended full support in this regard,” he said, adding, “We raised the issue of problems in investment related laws.” The government amended the law. Let’s say that an agreement is necessary for the promotion of bilateral investment. The government has prepared a blueprint for it. Now we have to make agreements with interested countries. ’
Dhakal said that the Federation has proposed the reform commission as a new phase of economic reform is necessary. “We formed a commission and submitted our suggestions to the government,” he said, adding, “The government has not only assimilated it but also included some suggestions in the budget and monetary policy.” Three months ago, in this hall, we talked about good governance. Immediately, the Prime Minister formed the Good Governance Commission and started working. I understand the possibility of involving the private sector in this. I also urge you for this. I express my gratitude to the Honourable Prime Minister and the Government for all these works. Today’s program is also a part of that. ’
Dhakal said that this program will encourage entrepreneurs to do business with respect. “According to international practice, the government and society attach great importance to those who are honoured in this way,” he said, adding that all the ministries of the government have imbibed its importance. ’
