Government’s decision to appoint Narad Luintel as CEO of NEPSE

Kathmandu. The government has decided to appoint Narad Kumar Luintel as the vacant CEO of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE).

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held this evening decided to appoint Luintel as the CEO of NEPSE. The CEO post was vacant in NEPSE after Krishna Bahadur Karki’s term ended on Magh 25. With the appointment of Luintel, NEPSE has got a new CEO.

The recommendation committee formed for the appointment of NEPSE CEO had published a notice on Falgun 12 and opened applications for the position of CEO of NEPSE until Falgun 18. Then, citing that there were 3 public holidays within the specified period, the committee extended the deadline by 7 days and opened the application until Falgun 25.

The recommendation committee had shortlisted 5 names out of the 10 applicants for the position of CEO of NEPSE. Along with Luintel, Chudamani Chapagain, Purna Prasad Acharya, Badri Prasad Pyakurel and Hemanta Basyal were included in the shortlist. Luintel has succeeded in becoming the CEO, beating the remaining 4 candidates.

Luintel from Sarlahi is a tourism entrepreneur. Luintel also served as the chairman of the Taragaun Development Committee for one term. Luitel was again given the responsibility of member secretary of the Taragaun Development Committee by the government in Falgun 2078.

Luitel, who studied up to MBA, also worked as the executive director of the Nepal Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) for a year.
