Kathmandu. The government is going to re-implement the provision regarding mandatory registration of imported mobile phones.
The government has decided to make IMEI registration mandatory in the domestic market with the conclusion that the mobile sets brought in by evading revenue from countries including India and stealing are being used.
Thursday for the upcoming fiscal year 2082. Announcing the budget of Rs 83, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said that provision has been made to register IMEI to stop illegal import and use of mobile sets.
He also said that nepal telecommunication authority would be restructured, digital gap would be reduced by expanding the reach of information technology and broadband internet service would be expanded.
