Canada’s Carney government is considering creating three new express entry categories. Which can make it easier for foreign nationals to get PR.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has sought public feedback on a proposal to prioritize the selection of senior managers, researchers, scientists and skilled military personnel under the main immigration system, CIC News reported.

Senior manager’s demand

The IRCC advisory document depicts the senior manager as a highly skilled employee. who oversee the operations of the company or organization and lead a team of employees. A possible new category is being considered for starting in express entry in 2026.

Express Entry is the application management system of the Canadian federal government. Which determines which foreign nationals will have the opportunity to apply for PR.

The Canadian government has not announced when it will announce a decision on the proposed new categories. However, the window for public consultation is open until September 3.

Idea of including these categories

Leadership: According to the post released for consultation, introducing this category can bring a new perspective. Can accelerate digital transformation, increase productivity and contribute to organizational goals. “Attracting candidates to senior positions can enhance the competitiveness of the country and promote economic growth and prosperity,” the department said. ’

Research and Innovation: IRCC is also considering prioritizing the selection of researchers and scientists. The department believes that scientific research and innovation can increase productivity and performance and stimulate economic growth.

National Security and Defence: IRCC is also seeking to support the Canadian armed forces by prioritizing the selection of highly skilled military recruits from partner countries.
