Global Money Week: What programs is the Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal doing for financial literacy?

Kathmandu. Global Money Week has started today across the world. In Nepal too, various bodies are celebrating Global Money Week under the leadership of Nepal Rastra Bank. Global Money Week will be celebrated with various programs until Chaitra 10.

On the occasion of Global Money Week, which has been called by OECD/INFE with the theme ‘Think Before You Follow, Know Money Tomorrow’ and the slogan ‘Learn, Save, Earn’, various programs will be organized by the Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal.

  • Chait 4: Nepal Securities Board will publish informative messages through its website to increase financial literacy and create financial awareness among young students and investors.
  • Chait 4: Nepal Securities Board and Stock Brokers Association of Nepal (SBAN) will organize a morning walk program on financial literacy in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu from 6:30 am to 8:30 am with the participation of Nepal Securities Board, Nepal Rastra Bank, Nepal Insurance Authority, government departments, Nepal Stock Exchange, CDSC, merchant bankers, stock brokers, stock dealers, credit ratings, etc.
  • Chait 5: Under the coordination of the Nepal Securities Board, a dialogue program will be conducted on Radio Nepal on the topic of Financial Literacy in Nepal, Status and Prospects for Improvement with the participation of Nepal Rastra Bank, Nepal Securities Board, Nepal Insurance Authority, Cooperative Department, and independent experts.
  • Chait 5: Under the organization of the Nepal Securities Board, an oratory competition on the topic of “Effective Financial Discussion in the Age of Social Media and AI” will be conducted among students studying at the undergraduate level under various universities at the South Asian Institute of Management (SAIM) College, Old Baneshwor. In the competition, the first, second, and third place students will be awarded Rs. 30,000, Rs. 20,000, and Rs. 10,000 cash prizes will be awarded.

  • Chait 6: Separate panel discussions will be held on Financial Literacy and Corporate Governance Current and Emerging Issues in PEVC at Kathmandu University School of Management Balkumari, organized by the Nepal Securities Board.

The Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal (SEB) has stated that financial literacy programs will be conducted in various schools and colleges across the country from Chait 4 to 10, targeting children and young students, from the central offices and branches of NEPSE, CDSC, stock dealers, credit rating and each stock broker company in all seven provinces of the country.
