Kathmandu. Most of the claims from the riots during the Jenji movement have been on property.
As per the data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA), a total of 3,187 claims have been filed in 14 non-life insurance companies and four micro non-life insurance companies. The companies have to pay Rs 23.23 billion for these claims.
According to the NRA, the highest amount of claim has been made towards the property. The companies have to pay Rs 19.01 billion for 673 claims towards assets. So far, the companies have paid Rs 2.27 billion.
Similarly, the second highest amount has been claimed in motor insurance. It is estimated that the companies will have to pay Rs 3.44 billion for 2,270 claims. So far, the companies have paid Rs 47.77 crore.
The companies have to pay Rs 367.9 million for 192 claims towards engineering and contract risk insurance. So far, the companies have paid Rs 4.62 crore.
Similarly, the companies have to pay Rs 1.66 crore for 12 claims for transport insurance and Rs 38.71 crore for 40 claims for other insurance. So far, the companies have paid Rs 22.82 lakh towards other insurance and transportation respectively.
