Kathmandu. Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to six months in jail.
Dhaka: Former Prime Minister and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to six months in jail by the International Criminal Tribunal (ICT) in Dhaka for contempt of court. A three-member bench of ICT-1, headed by Justice Mohammad Golam Mortuza Mojumdar, gave the verdict on Wednesday.
“Sheikh Hasina has given a statement that hurts the dignity of the court. Which has raised questions about the fairness of the justice system. ’
According to Bangladeshi media reports, the case dates back to October last year. When Sheikh Hasina’s phone call was leaked.
It was claimed through the audio clip that it was the voice of Sheikh Hasina. In which she was reportedly talking to Shakeel Akand Bulbul. In which she said that there are 227 cases registered against her. Therefore, he has got the license to kill 227 people. Hasina’s statement was found contempt of court by the court.
ICT is a special court set up to investigate and judge war crimes during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. According to experts, Mohammad Yunus is using ICT to end the politics of Sheikh Hasina and her party forever.
