First National Dalit Knowledge and Literature Festival 2082 to be held in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The historic First National Dalit Knowledge and Literature Festival 2082 is going to be held today. The festival is being held at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi with the theme “Let us preserve the indigenous skills, knowledge, literature and culture of the Dalit community and pass on these precious national prides of ours to the new generation”.

The festival is being organized at the initiative of dalit rights and development center Nepal Kathmandu, Nepal Intellectual Forum Lalitpur, Inclusive Foundation Kathmandu, Nepal Oppressed Development Center Mahottari and Citizen Awareness Center Nepal Kathmandu.

The National Commission for Dalits, the highest heritage of the Dalit community, is going to make institutional cooperation keeping the issue of historical importance deeply related to the pride, prestige and identity of this Dalit community in high priority. The main organizing committee of the festival has expressed its gratitude for the cooperation of the Commission.

Jitendra Paswan, dalit intellectual and co-coordinator of the main organizing committee, said that various committees and sub-committees have been formed to complete the festival. According to him, a 31-member main organising committee, 11-member secretariat and 21-member advisory committee have been formed.

Similarly, sub-committees including publicity, youth mobilization and volunteerism, hospitality, stage management, financial collection, government and non-government sector coordination have been formed under the sub-committees, said Meghendra Bishwakarma, coordinator of the historic First National Dalit Knowledge and Literature Festival Main Organizing Committee.

He appealed for the solidarity and cooperation of various government and non-government bodies, Dalit leaders, lawmakers, employees, businessmen, youth and students, Dalit intellectuals, rights activists, artists, journalists and all Dalit and non-Dalit communities for the successful completion of this historic festival.

Festival Secretariat member writer and Dalit scholar Saroj Dilu Bishwakarma said that various stalls depicting the caste identity of the Dalit community will be put up in the festival.
