Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank has urged people to be cautious as financial decisions made based on momentary greed or following trends can cause huge financial losses.

The central bank issued a notice for financial awareness and issued this warning. The Global Money Week-2025 campaign was celebrated from March 17 to 23 with the slogan ‘Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow’. “As mentioned in the slogan of this campaign, not all topics and their influencers that are discussed on social media may be experts in those topics, and we should be aware that financial losses may occur if we are influenced by the wrong influencers and make financial decisions,” the notice says. “Therefore, we should not trust anyone on social media.”

According to the National Bank, in today’s modern and open era, many financial information, solutions, and suggestions that may seem trustworthy can be found on social media. “Before relying on such suggestions or information or following such people (financial influence), let us consider whether the information and suggestions are correct or not,” the National Bank has said.

The central bank has also suggested that self-study, research and in-depth consideration or consultation with reliable sources be carried out when making any financial decision.
