Employees’ Provident Fund invests Rs 61 billion in stock market

Kathmandu. The Employees’ Provident Fund is considered to be a major institutional investor in the securities market. In the third quarter of the current fiscal year, the fund’s investment in the securities market has increased by 100 percent.

According to the revised quarterly financial statement published by the Fund, the fund has invested a total of Rs 61.22 billion in the securities market till mid-March last year. Last fiscal year 2080. The fund had a total investment of Rs 30.73 billion in securities as of Mid-July 2018. The fund’s investment in the securities market has increased by 99.19 percent in the last nine months.

According to the fund, the total asset size has crossed Rs 610 billion. According to the revised financial statement, the fund has a total cash reserves, share ownership and investment-related assets worth Rs 610.29 billion till the third quarter of the current fiscal year. The fund’s wealth has increased by 6.9 percent in nine months as compared to the same period last year. The fund had assets worth Rs 570.85 billion as of Mid-July last year.

According to the fund, the highest amount of money has been provided to the depositors as loans and loans. Depositors have consumed Rs 281.49 billion for such purposes. The fund has deposits of Rs 157.34 billion in banks and financial institutions.

The fund has invested Rs 87.83 billion in hydropower projects, Nepal Airlines Corporation and other big companies. The size of such investment has increased by Rs 513.9 million compared to June.

Citizen Investment Fund, another state-owned fund manager, has assets worth Rs 372 crore. Citizen Investment has invested a total of Rs 31.32 billion in the securities market.

A large part of the fund’s assets are kept in long-term deposits in banks and financial institutions. According to the fund’s revised financial statement, a total of Rs 154.38 billion has been invested in fixed deposits till mid-March of the current fiscal year.

A total of Rs 56.71 billion has been borrowed and borrowed by the participants from the Citizen Investment Fund till mid-March. Such loan investment has increased by 10.87 percent compared to mid-March of the last fiscal year.
