Kathmandu. Doctors of Nepal Medical Association (NMA) have suspended all services except emergency services at health facilities across the country today, alleging that the consumer court has decided to hear and decide the case related to medical negligence.
The association has started a phased agitation since Last Friday. On the first day of the festival, the association submitted a memorandum to the district administration offices across the country on Friday and staged a one-hour sit-in at the workplace on Sunday. Today, doctors have closed all services except emergency services in health institutions across the country.
The association has announced a program to collect signatures and medical council certificates from the doctors by Monday and send it to the association’s central office in Kathmandu. Similarly, all the certificates will be submitted to the Medical Council on Tuesday.
Association of Private Medical and Dental Colleges, Afin, Epon, Chemson, Nepal Nursing Association, Nepal Physiotherapy Association, Nepal Veterinary Association, ANVMIA, NPHHO among others have also expressed solidarity with the movement.
However, patients and their relatives, who had come for treatment during the doctors’ agitation, have suffered a lot.
