Kathmandu. The retirement age of employees in Denmark has been increased to 70 years.
Denmark’s parliament on Thursday passed a bill to raise the retirement age of employees to 70 years. This age limit is the highest in European countries.
A total of 81 members of parliament voted in favour of the bill, while 21 voted against it. This age limit will apply to citizens born after December 31, 1970.
At present, the retirement age of employees in Denmark is 67 years. However, in the case of citizens born after January 1, 1967, this limit is 69 years.
Denmark’s Ministry of Employment said that the main purpose of this age limit is to improve the living standards of future generations.
Currently, Denmark has a population of 6 million. Of these, 713,000 are citizens aged between 60 and 69 years. Similarly, 580,000 citizens are aged between 70 and 79 years. – Agency
