Kathmandu. Chairperson of The National Private and Boarding Schools Association Nepal, Geeta Chhetri Rana, has said that competent leadership is essential for effective school management.
Speaking at a one-day seminar on ‘Leadership for Effective School Management’ organized by National PABSON Kathmandu in Bhaktapur today, Chairperson Chhetri opined that a united approach involving school principals, in-charges and teachers would have a positive impact on the education of children.
“Success is possible only if we all move forward together,” she said. Leadership is a level above management. There is a need to work with a different thinking on how to move the school forward. ”
She said that although the Constitution of Nepal has ensured basic education as a fundamental right, in practice private schools have been providing more advanced education. “Government schools are providing basic education but private schools are providing quality education as per the wishes of the citizens,” she said.
Stating that the present Education Act was discouraging private investment, Chairperson Chhetri stressed the need for making policy arrangements while acknowledging the existence of all.
“The constitution says private education is necessary, but it seems that the act does not require it,” she said. The next Education Act should pay serious attention to this issue. ”
Various aspects of private education’s contribution, leadership development and school management were also discussed on the occasion.
