Kathmandu. The government has offered $100,000 to the families of those killed in the plane crash.
In the draft of the Bill 2082 prepared by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to provide for the liability and insurance of domestic airlines, it has been proposed to increase the compensation limit to 100,000 dollars for the families of victims of air accidents. At present, the families of those killed in the air crash are entitled to $20,000 in compensation.
According to the proposed bill, if there is an accident or injury or physical damage or mutilation while entering the plane after boarding during the journey, or while inside or getting off the plane, the concerned airline should provide a maximum of $ 100,000 as compensation to the victims of the incident.
Similarly, in the event of the death of the passenger in the accident, the concerned airline company should provide a compensation of $ 100,000 to the nearest beneficiary of the deceased. It has also been proposed in the bill that the concerned airline company should make arrangements for proper treatment in case of injury or amputation due to an accident.
According to the proposed bill, in case of death, the concerned airline company will have the responsibility to hand over the body of the deceased to his family as well as all the expenses incurred in the work and the advance payment for the funeral.
Similarly, the bill proposes that the other liabilities to be borne by the airlines will be as per the agreement reached between the passengers and the airlines.
Issuing the draft bill, the ministry has sought suggestions from the concerned bodies. Opinions can be sent till July 15.
