Kathmandu. Nepal has received foreign direct investment commitments worth Rs 26.84 billion by the end of Magh of the current fiscal year.
According to the monthly progress report published by the Department of Industries, foreign investors have expressed a total investment commitment of Rs 26.84 billion in 386 projects in the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2081.82.
According to the department, foreign direct investment commitments worth Rs 1.06 billion have been received through 32 industries in Magh.
So far, foreign direct investment commitments worth Rs 10.74 billion have come through the automatic route for 314 industries. The government has also started approving investments through the automatic method since Mangsir last year. Foreign direct investment of up to Rs 500 million has been approved through the automatic route.
A total of 168 industries have been registered for tourism, 134 industries for the information and communication technology sector, 48 industries for the service sector, 27 industries for the manufacturing sector, and 6 industries related to agriculture have been registered.
These industries approved in the current fiscal year have committed to providing employment to a total of 10,000 people.
