Kathmandu. Pokhara: The Government has directed the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to conduct an investigation based on the report prepared by the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on corruption in the construction of Pokhara Airport.
A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives on Wednesday decided to direct the Commission to investigate the corruption.
The meeting approved the report prepared by the sub-committee headed by lawmaker Rajendra Lingden after discussing the issue for nearly four hours in the accounts committee. The audit committee accepted the report of the sub-committee lawmakers Gokul Baskota and Tara Lama.
There was also a dispute for some time among the lawmakers who were of the opinion that the report should be passed and handed over to the CIAA and the other side should first clarify and send it to the CIAA only after further investigation.
Lawmakers Yogesh Bhattarai, Gokul Baskota, Tara Lama and Shyam Ghimire were of the view that those involved should be interrogated. On the other hand, sub-committee coordinators Rajendra Lingden, Arjun Narsingh KC, Prem Ale and Amresh Kumar Singh suggested that the report should be passed and handed over to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
