Kathmandu. A team of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) suddenly reached the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) on Wednesday.
Recently, the IPO of the hydropower company was stopped in the market and there were reports that some people had demanded commission in the name of SEBON Chairman Santosh Narayan Shrestha up to 5-7 percent for the issue permission. According to sources, the CIAA team reached the Securities Board for investigation after receiving a complaint regarding the same commission.
According to sebon sources, the CIAA team, which was in a group of three, entered Sebon’s office at 12 noon. For about three and a half hours, the team questioned the employees of the Incorporation Division of the Securities Board and also met Chairman Shrestha.
According to sebon sources, an atmosphere of fear was created among all the employees after the CIAA team arrived. “We were in a state of panic when the CIAA team suddenly entered with a general letter saying that they would be interrogated,” said an official of the Securities Board. ’
According to the official, the CIAA team questioned The Chief of the Division Muktinath Shrestha and other employees of the Division for about three hours. “They specifically enquired about the demand for commission on the IPO permission of hydropower companies,” the official said, adding that they understood the IPO status of 89 companies currently in the pipeline. ’
The CIAA team did not carry any documents, the official said. “The CIAA team has only done the work of inquiring, now there is a possibility of coming again,” the official said, adding, “The CIAA team returned after talking to Chairman Shrestha for some time.” ’
According to the official, there was a ruckus in the securities board when the CIAA team came in this way.
