Kathmandu. With President Donald Trump imposing tariffs on various countries, the trend of boycotting American goods in various countries has started to increase.
Todd Breiman, who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada, has stopped buying his favorite red wine made in California, USA.
‘I served my country all my life with the US Army. I was very proud to work with them. There is a historical relationship between the soldiers of both countries. However, now it has become very discouraging,’ said Breiman, a former soldier of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Breiman said that he has now decided to stand by his country. ‘I will no longer buy American goods. Instead, I buy goods made in my own country and support the country’s trade,’ he said, ‘I have removed all the American goods I have been using. I am buying goods made in Canada.’
Not only Bremen, but now there is a campaign to boycott American goods throughout Canada. Trump has imposed a 25 percent tariff on goods coming from Canada.
In Denmark, a boycott of American goods has also begun. Met Herulf Christiana, who runs a grocery store in Copenhagen, has also stopped ordering American goods. ‘I used to sell crisps and chocolates from America,’ he said. ‘Now I have decided to sell Danish or European-made products instead of importing them from America.’
Christiana has also banned the use of American products at home. ‘I am replacing American products at home,’ he said. ‘For example, I have started drinking Joy Cola instead of Coca Cola. But Facebook is not finished.’
Christiana said that the ongoing boycott of American products in Denmark clearly shows that people are angry with Trump’s policies. “This boycott campaign has made the Danish people happy,” she said.
The trend of boycotting American goods in protest against tariffs is growing not only in Canada and Denmark but also in many countries. –Agency
