Kathmandu. Current fiscal year 2081. Foreign direct investment (FDI) commitment of about Rs 58 billion has been made in Nepal till the third quarter of 2018-19.
The Department of Industry has committed foreign direct investment worth Rs 75.97 billion till Mid-April. This commitment has come for 480 industries. A total of 12,435 people will be employed in these industries.
According to the Department, foreign direct commitment worth Rs 13.31 billion has been received for the establishment of 53 industries in the month of April alone.
The highest number of foreign direct investment commitments have come to the service sector till mid-March. A commitment of Rs 34.92 billion has been made in the service sector till Mid-April. Which is 60 percent of the total commitment received in the current financial year.
Similarly, foreign investment worth Rs 18.38 billion has been committed in the tourism sector, Rs 2.74 billion in the productive sector, Rs 25.5 million in the energy sector, Rs 761 million in agriculture sector and Rs 20 million in infrastructure sector.
Most of the foreign investment commitments have come to small industries. There are 468 small industries. Similarly, investment commitments have been received for eight medium scale industries and four for four industries.
