Air India flight with 242 passengers on board crashes in India, details awaited

Kathmandu. An Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Black smoke billowed into the sky from the crash site.

Rescue teams have reached the spot. The accident took place soon after the plane took off from Ahmedabad airport. The plane was carrying 242 people, including 12 crew members (including two pilots) and 230 passengers. Ahmedabad Police Control Room confirmed this.

The plane was on its way to London from Ahmedabad. The accident took place shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport near Meghaninagar.

The distance from the airport to Meghaninagar is about 15 kilometers. After the accident, seven fire engines reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire.

An emergency response team has been deployed at the spot. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the accident. The crashed plane is said to be Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner. Which was 11 years old.

Air India flight AI-171 took off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) for Ahmedabad. After a brief halt there, it took off for London on Thursday afternoon and crashed. – Agency
