Kathmandu. India has launched a military offensive against Pakistan, accusing Pakistan of involvement in the attack on tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam. The Indian Army carried out air strikes on nine locations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir at midnight on Wednesday, bbc world reported online.
A Pakistani military spokesman also confirmed air strikes from the Indian side on at least nine locations. Speaking to BBC News channel, Pakistan Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that the Pakistani army shot down at least two Indian jets and a drone in retaliation.
The US government has officially reacted to the Indian attack. Us Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on social network X that the US is closely monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan.
On Wednesday, the Indian Embassy in the US had said that India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had spoken to Rubio and briefed him about the actions taken against him.
President Donald Trump also responded to questions from media about India’s attack and called it “shameful”. Speaking at the White House in Washington DC, Trump said, “I hope it will end very soon.”
Rubio said that he has reiterated the US President’s remarks, it is hoped to end soon. He also said that he would remain in constant touch with both the Indian and Pakistani leadership for a peaceful resolution.
