Kathmandu. Millions of immigrants with special permits to come to the United States will be asked to leave the country immediately.

The Trump administration has ordered citizens of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, who were previously temporarily protected from deportation, to leave the United States immediately. “They will be asked to leave the United States by sending an e-mail,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement on Thursday.

The DHS said more than 500,000 immigrants from four countries were allowed to stay in the United States for two years under an order issued by former President Joe Biden. Opponents of the Trump administration’s mass deportation program are expected to face legal challenges to the directive.

During his tenure, Biden expanded security from what has been known as “humanitarian parole” and since the Cold War because of the situation in all four countries.

Earlier, dhs had said that by the end of November 2024, a total of 531,670 immigrants from those countries had been allowed to live in the United States under the program. As a result, there was a 98 per cent decrease in illegal cross-border crossings by citizens of these four countries. However, it is unclear how many will be affected by the new directive. Because some immigrants from those countries may have obtained legal status to stay in the United States under other visa programs. – Agency
