Kathmandu. Ten people have applied for the vacant position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE).
The recommendation committee formed by the Ministry of Finance had published a notice on Falgun 12 and opened applications for the position of CEO of NEPSE until Falgun 18. Then, citing that there were 3 public holidays within the stipulated period, the committee extended the deadline by 7 days and opened the applications till today, February 25.
According to the committee, till today, the last day, Purna Prasad Acharya (Jhapa), Badri Prasad Pyakurel (Nuwakot), Narad Kumar Luintel (Sarlahi), Yubaraj Dahal (Jhapa), Prabin Adhikari (Kavrepalanchok), Chudamani Chapagain (Jhapa), Bimal Kumar Tiwari (Siraha), Krishna Bahadur Karki (Palpa), Hemant Basyal (Palpa) and Mukanda Raj Joshi (Dadeldhura) have applied for the post of CEO of NEPSE. Acharya was previously the Chief Executive of CDSC, while Karki is the outgoing CEO of NEPSE. Basyal is known as a financial analyst.
The CEO is going to be appointed in NEPSE through open competition. The tenure of outgoing CEO Karki of NEPSE ended on Magh 25. Currently, the acting CEO responsibility of NEPSE has been given to Manager Niranjan Phuyal.
The committee will evaluate the applications received and shortlist the names of 5 people. Then, after the presentation of the action plan and interview, it will recommend the names of 3 of them to the Council of Ministers. The Council of Ministers will appoint 1 of the 3 people as the CEO of NEPSE.
