Kathmandu. A meeting of the Monsoon Response Command Post of the National Disaster Mitigation and Management Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken 8 different decisions for the rescue and relief of the people affected by floods and landslides caused by incessant rains.
The decision taken at today’s meeting of the post is as follows:
- } Expressing sorrow over the incessant rainfall in various parts of the country since October 1, 2002 and the incidents caused by it, we express heartfelt condolences to the deceased and deep condolences to the family members and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.
- Directive to the concerned District Administration Offices to provide immediate relief to the families of the deceased as per the criteria by coordinating with the local levels and to make arrangements for free medical treatment to the injured.
- To continue the search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the victims and affected by monsoon-induced disasters caused by heavy rains.
- Request the concerned bodies to assess the initial damage caused by the disaster, collect the details of the affected population and area as soon as possible and send it to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
- Request the concerned local level and the concerned bodies to complete the works related to relief, relocation and rehabilitation of the disaster-affected people and families at the earliest.
- According to the Authority’s notice dated October 1, 2082, the risk of disaster-related incident should be analyzed and the vehicles entering or exiting long distance and entering or exiting Kathmandu should be prohibited as follows:
(a) To write to the Department of Roads to repair the obstructed roads and resume them immediately.
(b) To direct the local administration to resume the movement of vehicles in inter-district coordination taking into account the situation of disaster risk at local level in the case of essential services, goods carriers and passenger vehicles stranded on the highway and vehicles operating on short routes.
(c) To direct the Local Administration not to operate or cause to be operated night bus service on the risky highway or road until further notice.
Write to the drinking water service providers, Nepal Telecommunication Authority and Nepal Electricity Authority respectively to take necessary action for the operation of essential services including drinking water, electricity and communication.TAG_OPEN_li_24
