Kathmandu. After US President Trump announced tariffs, many world leaders have reacted.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said, “We do not want to hinder growing trade. We do not want a trade war. We want to return to the path of trade and cooperation with the United States. So that the people of both countries can live a better life.”

South Korean Acting President Han Deuk-soo acknowledged the reality of the global trade war and said the government must use all its capabilities to deal with this trade crisis.

Colombian Foreign Minister Laura Sarabia said that they are looking into this to protect the country’s industries and exporters. The Brazilian government issued a statement on the tariffs imposed by the US, saying it was evaluating all possible measures to ensure reciprocity in bilateral trade, including through the World Trade Organization, to protect its national interests.

The US has imposed a 25 percent tariff on South Korea and a 10 percent tariff on Colombia and Brazil.

Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the tariffs were “not unexpected” but “completely unfair.” He said, “There is no logic in announcing the tariffs. It goes against the partnership between Australia and the US. This is not what friends do.”
