Kathmandu. Terrorism is a curse for the world. India has been fighting terrorism for decades. Once again, terrorists have shocked the world by firing on unarmed tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

Around 28 people, including a Nepali, were killed in the attack. Earlier, around 166 innocent people were killed in the 26÷11 Mumbai terror attacks. Even after that, terrorist attacks took place in different parts of India and innocent people were killed.

This is a life-long setback for families who have lost loved ones in recent attacks. People’s anger against this attack will gradually subside. However, family members are crying in memory of their loved ones.

In Pahalgam, many families have lost their only earning member. The government’s compensation of a few lakhs will not be of much use to them. In such a situation, it is important to know what are the rules and regulations of life insurance for the victims of terrorist attacks in the country.

India’s insurance rules have undergone major changes in the last few years. Since then, the damage caused by terrorism is now included in most life insurance policies. That is, insurance claims are available. However, there are some conditions for this.

According to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA), companies now cover deaths due to terrorism in life insurance policies. That is, if a person dies from a terrorist’s bullet, then it usually comes under the purview of insurance.

However, if a person dies due to terrorism, he will not get the additional amount prescribed for the death due to accident. For example, if a person has taken an insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh and has an additional insurance of Rs 10 lakh in case of an accident, then in such a situation, if that person dies in a terrorist attack, then the family will be paid only under insurance of Rs 50 lakh. There will be no separate provision of Rs 1 million for accidents.

Not only this, if anyone wants to get separate insurance for the damage caused by terrorism, then ‘New India Assurance’ has introduced terrorism insurance policy in collaboration with many companies.

Many insurance companies also cover terrorism in ordinary life insurance policies and this is as an additional cover. In today’s time, apart from life insurance, people should also focus on health insurance, home and property insurance plans. Many times terrorist attacks destroy entire houses and break vehicles into pieces. In such a situation, money is available as soon as you claim home and car insurance.

The process of claiming a terrorist attack in India is very simple. As soon as the claim is made, the company has made arrangements to pay as soon as possible. Because the list of those killed in terrorist attacks is available to the government. A death certificate is considered if a government or municipal record mentions death due to a terrorist attack. Whereas in other insurance plans, a long process of investigation should be followed after the death of the person. – Agency
