Kathmandu. The English language is spoken all over the world. In Nepal too, people have started using English language extensively in their daily lives. However, nepali students have to take the English language test to study abroad.
The depth of the student’s knowledge is checked through a language test. Universities around the world, including the US, Canada, the UK and Australia, admit students only for those who know how to speak and write English.
The most popular test for testing ability in English is the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Students going to study in countries such as the US, Canada, Australia or the UK will have to take the IELTS exam. The IELTS score tells the student how well english is spoken. Students get admission in colleges and universities abroad only on the basis of IELTS score.
Marks ranging from 1 to 9 are given in the IELTS exam. Generally, a score of 7 or above is considered good. If the score is 7 or above, then the student can get admission in most foreign universities. Even if 7 marks are good, the higher the score, the better for the student.
Students need a good IELTS score to get admission in their preferred university abroad. Every university in every country has its own cut-off. This means that students will have to score at least as much marks to get admission.
Top U.S. universities, such as Harvard and Stanford, only accept foreign students with IELTS scores of 7 or above. For admission to Oxford and Cambridge Universities in the UK, 7.5 or more marks are required. To get admission to the best universities in Canada and Australia, a score of 6.5 or 7 or above is required.
A score of 6.5 to 7.5 is considered good for admission to the university. However, big and good universities require a score of 7.0 or above.
