Kathmandu. The Department of Drinking Water and Sewerage Management has achieved nearly 80 percent financial progress in the current fiscal year as compared to the previous fiscal year. According to the Department, there has been relatively little progress in the past years, but this year there has been a significant improvement.
Director General of the Department, Engineer Ram Kumar Shrestha, said that the department has been able to make about 80 percent financial progress in the current fiscal year as per the updated data till July 15, compared to only 63 percent in the previous fiscal year.
“This is a great achievement for the ministry including the department,” he said, adding that myagdi, Ilam and Jumla have made remarkable progress among the 20 federal drinking water and sewerage management project offices across the country. ”
According to the Ministry of Drinking Water, this economic progress has been possible due to the clear direction, guidance and activism and commitment of the Department.

According to the Ministry, 80 percent financial progress has been achieved in the current fiscal year due to the directives of Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav and the dedication of the Department. According to the department’s updated data, the Federal Office Janakpur has made the least progress.
Myagdi has achieved the highest 95.14 per cent progress followed by Ilam (93.30 per cent) and Jumla (91.36 per cent).
Similarly, The Federal Drinking Water and Sewerage Management Project Office, Ramechhap has achieved 91.23 per cent progress and Arghakhanchi has achieved 90.53 per cent progress.
Nepalgunj, Biratnagar, Khotang, Pokhara, Kanchanpur and Birgunj are the other offices with more than 80 per cent progress. The progress of Dhankuta, Butwal and Hetauda is 77.55 percent, 76.61 percent and 72.52 percent respectively. However, some offices have shown little progress.
Kailali, Lamjung, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Surkhet and Janakpur have made less than 70 per cent progress. In particular, Janakpur has made only 46.39 percent progress, which is the lowest.
