Ward no. 15 of Bharatpur declared ‘child-friendly ward’

Kathmandu. Bharatpur Ward No. 15 has been declared child labour-free and child-friendly ward. The ward was declared as the 9th child-friendly of the metropolis amid a grand program at the ward office premises on Monday.

Bharatpur Metropolitan City Mayor Renu Dahal and Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari jointly declared ward no. 15 as child-friendly. Addressing the programme, Bharatpur Metropolitan City Mayor Renu Dahal urged the Social Division to move ahead to declare the metropolis as a child-friendly municipality within the next two years.

Chief Dahal stressed the need of preparing a planned schedule to increase the pace of the campaign to declare child-friendly wards. She recalled that the first of the six metropolitan cities of the country was successful in declaring it a human-free metropolis.

She also thanked the supporting organizations and stakeholders for helping ward no. 15 to cross 51 indicators for declaring ward no. 15 as a child-friendly ward.

“Declaring a child-friendly ward is not a big issue,” she said. Ward no. 15 has been given the responsibility from today. ’

Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari said that Bharatpur Metropolitan City is advancing human development along with physical development. Deputy Mayor Adhikari informed that the metropolis has moved ahead to declare 12 wards as child-friendly wards within the current fiscal year.
