Waling Municipality begins long-term agricultural development plan and strategy

Kathmandu. Syangja: Waling Municipality of Syangja has started preparing long-term agriculture development plans and strategies. Mayor Krishna Khand said that a long-term plan has been started to prevent the fertile land of the village as it has become barren due to migration. “The fertile land in the villages has become barren due to migration,” he said. “Migration will be stopped if people can be given clear information about which cultivation can be done in which place.

Chief Khand said that due to lack of production as per the hard work, the farmers are fleeing from the profession. He believes that the strategy is very important to utilize the barren land of the village. Mayor Khand said that the municipality is planning to make a clear outline of what needs to be cultivated in which place.

Waling Municipality is preparing a long-term agricultural development plan and strategy in collaboration with Heifer Project Nepal. Padam Raj Gurung, ward chair of Ward No. 1, said.

Bishnu Prasad Pandey, senior programme officer of Heifer Project Nepal, said that the strategy would be prepared with the status of all the wards in Waling, which has 14 wards. According to him, the strategy is being prepared with the financial and technical support of Heifer as per the agreement of Waling Agricultural Development Project.

Dr Ram Chandra Bastakoti, Dr Ammar Shah, Nagendra Bastakoti, Asmita Nepal, among others, briefed about the need and importance of agriculture development.

Expert Dr Ram Chandra Bastakoti said that after formulating the agricultural development plan and strategy, it will be easier for the municipality to plan and work in agriculture and animal husbandry. “A strategy is needed to give clear information to the farmers who want to work in which place,” he said. ”
