Volkswagen enters EV sector, launches first affordable electric car

Kathmandu. The world’s most powerful auto brand Volkswagen is set to bring its entry-level electric car to the Indian market for the first time.

Volkswagen plans to publicly unveil the show car of the new entry-level model in early March. The world premiere of the production model is scheduled for 2027.

With a starting price of around 20,000 euros, or around Rs. 18 lakh, this new entry-level electric model will be attractive to various user groups. The first global launch of this car will be in 2027, but for now, this car will be unveiled. This car is said to be the company’s first affordable electric car to be launched in the Indian market.

The company has informed that low-cost entry-level mobility is the brand’s future plan in the electric age. This car is currently believed to be the ID. It can be offered under the name Tual. This car is the brand’s entry-level.

This electric model is part of the new electric small car family developed under the brand group core of the Volkswagen Group. The model family, based on the newly developed phase of the Modular Electric Drive (MEB) platform, includes fully electric compact vehicles.

The first new model is the production version of the ID. 2 show car, which will reach dealerships in 2026. It will be Volkswagen’s first fully electric small car. Its starting price will be less than 25,000 euros (approximately Rs. 23 lakh).
