Kathmandu. Vivo Y21d, which was recently launched in the Nepalese market, has now brought a new competition in the affordable mobile market. From price to design, battery and camera, how does it compete with Samsung and Xiaomi’s phones?

New vivo Y21D: Balance of Design and Price

Crest

Vivo launched a new model Y21d in October 2025 for the Nepalese market. Available at a price of around Rs 21,499, this phone is made for the users of the budget segment.

It has a 6.68-inch screen, HD Plus resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It also comes with a 6,500mAh battery and an IP68÷69 water and dust resistance. Which is a very rare feature at this price.

The design of the phone is slim and attractive. The back is slightly curved all around. Which makes it easier to catch. The phone will be available in two color variants: Coral Red and Jade Green. It weighs around 209 grams and is protected by Gorilla Glass.

The hardware is powered by a Unisoc T7225 chipset, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The software has Android 15 based Funtouch OS 15.

The camera has a 50-megapixel main camera and an auxiliary depth sensor. The front 5MP camera looks good for normal selfies and video calls.

Comparison with Samsung Galaxy A14

Samsung’s Galaxy A14 is currently available in the Nepalese market at a price of over Rs 23,000. The phone has a 6.6-inch Full HD Plus screen and a 13-megapixel front camera.

Compared to Vivo Y21D, Samsung has given a better resolution screen and selfie camera. However, vivo has differentiated itself by offering a bigger battery, faster charging and a water-resistant structure. The vivo Y21d is more suitable for users who want a longer battery backup and a sturdy design. However, for users who prefer screen quality and selfies, the Samsung A14 can be a good option.

Comparison with Xiaomi Redmi 12

Xiaomi’s Redmi 12 is available at a much cheaper price of around Rs 18,000 to Rs 20,000. It has a full HD Plus screen, a good processor and an 8-megapixel front camera.

The main strength of vivo Y21d is its large battery and water resistance. This feature can be useful for users who use the phone on long journeys or for outdoor work. However, for users who want games or more performance, Redmi 12 seems to be even more suitable.

Key Strengths of Vivo Y21D

}

The biggest highlight of vivo Y21d is its battery. It has a capacity of 6,500 million and has a fast charge facility of 44 watts.

The IP68÷69 certification ensures water and dust resistance, making the phone more durable. With the new Android 15 software, it can be expected that this phone will be updated for a long time. The 50-megapixel main camera captures good photos in bright light.

Weakness

}

The screen of vivo Y21D is still limited to HD Plus resolution. Whereas competing phones have already given full HD facility. While the Unisoc processor is good for normal work, it’s not powerful enough for gaming. The front camera is only 5 megapixels, so this can be a weakness for selfie lovers. There seems to be a problem with some unnecessary apps still staying in Funtouch OS.

What kind of users is it suitable for?

If you’re looking for a long battery backup, water resistance, and a reliable phone for daily use, vivo Y21d is a great choice. But if you want a high-resolution screen, a powerful processor or a good selfie experience, you can choose either the Samsung Galaxy A14 or the Xiaomi Redmi 12.

vivo Y21d seems to have set new benchmarks in the affordable mobile market of Nepal with durability and battery life.
