Kathmandu. According to research, 14 million people worldwide are at risk of dying by 2030 due to reductions in us humanitarian aid.
According to a research report published in The Lancet medical journal on Monday, one-third of the 14 million people at risk of death due to financial aid cuts are children.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in March that President Donald Trump’s administration had canceled more than 80 percent of the U.S. Agency for International Development ‘s (USAID) programs. David Russella, co-author of the Lancet report, said, “For many low- and middle-income countries, this shock will equal the amount of a global pandemic or a major armed conflict.” ’
Looking at data from 133 countries around the world, the team estimated that from 2001 to 2021, the USAID Fund prevented more than 90 million deaths in developing countries. USAID provides financial assistance to more than 100 countries around the world. Funds for USAID were allocated to the U.S. budget.
In 2024, the U.S. allocated $44.20 billion for USAID. That was 0.4 percent of the total U.S. budget for 2024. – Agency
