Kathmandu. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has appealed to China to stop Iran from closing the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement came at a time when Iran’s state-run Press TV reported that Iran’s parliament had approved a plan to close the Strait of Hormuz. However, the final decision is still in the hands of the Supreme National Security Council.
The price of crude oil rose after the US attack on Iran’s nuclear sites. In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Marco Rubio said, “I want to ask the Chinese government to call Iran and talk about it, because China is also heavily dependent on the Strait of Hormuz for its oil.” ’
Rubio said, “If Iran closes the strait, it will be like an economic suicide for them.” We have options to deal with it. But other countries should also pay attention to it, because it will affect their economic situation more than us. ’
