Kathmandu. Us President Donald Trump’s tariffs have led to a huge increase in customs duty collection in June.
For the first time in U.S. history, the Treasury Department said it had exceeded $100 billion in fiscal year. As a result, there has been a budget surplus of $ 27 billion throughout the month. That’s a good thing for a debt-ridden America. Budget data show that customs duties are becoming an important source of revenue for the federal government.
According to a Reuters report, customs duties set a new record in June. After the refunds, it has quadrupled to $27.2 billion in total terms and $26.6 billion in net terms. This means the U.S. government is getting a lot of money from customs duties. Trump recently said that big money will start coming in after imposing mutual tariffs on U.S. trading partners on August 1.
Treasury Secretary Scott Besant wrote in X, “These results show that the US is reaping the results from Trump’s tariff agenda.” President Trump is working hard to regain our country’s economic sovereignty. The monthly Treasury statement is proof of this. The government is benefiting from tariffs and inflation is not rising. ’
In the first nine months of fiscal year 2025, a total of $ 113.3 billion was collected from customs duties and a record of $ 108 billion in net basis. That’s almost double what it was last year.
The U.S. government’s fiscal year ends on September 30. Tariffs are now the fourth largest source of revenue for the federal government. – Agency
