Mahishasura, the son of Rambhasur, was very powerful. He was born from the combination of a man and a buffalo, so he was named Mahishasura. The will to never die awakens in him and he meditates for a long time. Pleased with this kind of hard penance, Brahma appears and asks for a boon, Mahishasura asks for a boon to remain immortal (never to die). Brahmaji should die after birth, thinking more than asking for any other boon, no gods, demons and people can kill me, if I must die, then if I die at the hands of a woman, then I ask for a boon and Brahmaji also disappeared saying Aastu.
After receiving a boon from Brahma, Mahishasura raised his huge army and started ruling by conquering the netherworld and the mortal world. Shortly after that, he wanted to become the king of the three worlds and attacked Devlok as well. In this war, Gods, Shiva and Vishnu were all defeated, and Mahishasura started ruling in the three worlds. At a time when atrocities were increasing in the three worlds, Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh gave their share of energy to create a goddess to kill Mahishasura. Maharishi Katyayan was the first to worship him. For this reason, she is also called Katyayani. It is said in the scriptures that Goddess Katyayani was born on Ashwin Krishna Chaturdashi and worshiped Katyayana Rishi for three days till Ashwin Shukla Saptami, Ashtami and Navami and killed Mahishasura on the day of Dashami.
Mata Katyayani is infallible and fruitful. In order to get Lord Krishna as her husband, the Gopis of Braj worshiped this goddess Katyayani on the banks of Kalindi-Yamuna. She is revered as the presiding goddess of Vrajamandal. His form is very grand and divine. His complexion is as bright and bright as gold. She is a four-armed former. The upper hand on the right side is in the Abhaya posture and the lower hand is in the Vara Mudra. He holds a sword in his upper left hand and a lotus flower in his lower hand.
On the sixth day of Durga Puja, seekers should offer everything at the feet of Mata Katyayani. A devotee who gives complete self-donation succeeds in attaining the darshan of Mata Katyayani with ease. Through the devotion and worship of Mata Katyayani, one can easily attain the four fruits of Artha, Dharma, Kama and Moksha. Even though he is situated in this world, he becomes supernaturally radiant and radiant. His disease, grief, hunger, sorrow, fear, etc. are completely destroyed.
The puja is held at Guheshwori, Dakshinkali, Kalikasthan, Maitidevi, Indrayani, Taleju Bhawani, Bijeshwori, Shova Bhagwati, Naxal Bhagwati, Bhadrakali, among other places in the Kathmandu Valley. On the occasion of Dashain, Durga Bhagwati is worshipped for nine days along with worship in the Shaktipeeth and Dashain Ghar.
