Kathmandu. Today is the seventh day of Bada Dashain, i.e. Phulpati. Today, Phulpati, a symbol of auspicious time, is being brought to every household. Today, sugarcane, turmeric, banana plants, paddy ears, bel leaves, pomegranate, Jayanti, Ashoka flowers and human trees are brought to the Dashain Ghar or Puja hall where Durga is worshipped as per the Vedic rituals.
The Phulpati, also known as Navpatrika, is brought as a symbol of Goddess Navawati and worshipped with the worship of Shakti according to the classical method.
Brahmayani in banana, Raktadantika in pomegranate, Lakshmi in paddy, Durga in turmerics, Chamunda in Manvriksha, Kalika in sugarcane, Shiva in Belpatra, Shokrahita in Ashoka and Goddess Kartiki on Jayanti are worshiped by invoking them.
There is a tradition of bringing Phulpati brought from Gorkha district in the Dashain Ghar of Hanumandhoka Durbar. The tradition is that the fulmidwife is carried by six men belonging to Magar indigenous nationality from Gorkha Durbar in Gorkha district up to Jivanpur in Dhading.
