Those delaying construction of drinking water projects will not be spared: Minister Yadav

Kathmandu. Minister for Drinking Water Pradeep Yadav has said that contractors delaying the construction of under-construction drinking water projects for the distribution of clean, safe and pure drinking water to the citizens would not be spared.

Addressing an interaction and discussion programme with stakeholders related to Kanyam-Panchakanya Drinking Water Project under the Federal Drinking Water and Sewerage Management Project, Ilam today, Minister Yadav said that no excuse would be accepted for delay in essential services like drinking water.

“Delaying essential items like drinking water is not acceptable,” he said. Drinking water projects should be completed within the stipulated time. Now it will not be tolerated, it will be brought under the purview of law. ”

Similarly, Minister Yadav said that the contract of the contractors would be canceled as complaints have been heard that the contractors are delaying the work on drinking water projects by making various excuses and not completing the work within the stipulated time.

“Minister Swayam has come here to solve the problem of Kanyam-Panchakanya Drinking Water Scheme. Today, we have to find a way to solve the problem here. That the contractor has to work, or now the contract should be canceled. ”

Minister Yadav also urged the contractors to immediately stop the delay in the construction work and inform the ministry or themselves immediately in case of any problem.

Stating that he was aware that 77 per cent of the work on the Kanyam-Panchakanya Drinking Water Project was underway, Minister Yadav said, “The rainy season has come, there will be floods, who will take responsibility for some incidents? Start working on the unfinished pipeline tomorrow morning. ”

He stressed the need for timely completion of all drinking water projects in operation with the aim of providing safe, clean and pure water to the citizens.

On the occasion, Minister Yadav hinted at taking stern action against the contractors who delayed the construction of drinking water projects and pledged to bring reforms in the drinking water sector.

“New schemes will start in the coming days,” he said. I am moving ahead with full confidence that incomplete projects will be completed and people will get easy and reliable drinking water services. I will take strict action against the contractors who delay. ”

He said that he firmly believes that every citizen of the country should get clean, safe and pure drinking water easily and due to his tireless efforts, the budget of the Ministry of Drinking Water has increased this year.
