Kathmandu. Employees of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) are planning to go on strike again if the Ministry of Finance does not meet their demands within this week.

The employees of Sebon had called off their agitation from November 24 after the Ministry of Finance assured that their demands would be met. It was agreed that the SEBON Board of Directors would write to the Ministry of Finance to address the demands of the employees.

Sebon employees had set a deadline for their demands to be met by mid-November. They had threatened to halt the work again if their demands were not met by mid-November.

However, as the Board of Directors of SEBON sent a letter to the Ministry of Finance and Mahesh Acharya, the chief joint-secretary of the Financial Sector Management and Corporation Coordination Division of the ministry, was out of the country for a week. “He returned to the ministry yesterday and we held discussions with him,” said Ajay Dhungana, president of Sebon Employees’ Union. ’

Dhungana said that they will wait for a week. “If our demands are not addressed within this week, we will be compelled to resort to protest again,” he said.

Employees unions and independent employees unions operating in Sebon have canceled the pawn and are currently continuing their 1-hour sit-in every day.

The employees of Sebon had started the protest from September 23 disagreeing with the decision of the Ministry of Finance (Revenue Secretary) on September 16 and the letter dated September 19 demanding the scrapping of the work procedure related to the services and facilities of the employees of Sebon and taking the consent of the Ministry of Finance on the issue of creating financial liability for the employees.
