Kathmandu. The embossed number has been made mandatory in vehicles across the country from September 1.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has decided to install embossed numbers compulsorily from September 1. According to the Ministry, it is mandatory to install embossed number plates while registering, transferring and renewing vehicles from the Transport Management Offices under all the state governments. The Department will provide technical support for the implementation of this arrangement and in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the traffic police will also be mobilized and effectively regulated.
Such is the process
1. Go to hsenp.dotm.gov.np and fill out the online form.
2. Go to the designated transport office and pay the prescribed fee.
3. Submit the required documents to the concerned transport office along with the online form.
Required document
- Online form with photo only if the owner of the vehicle.
- stamp is from the vehicle office or company.
- Letter with office seal if the vehicle is in the government name.
- Receipt of revenue paid.

- Two-wheeler: Rs. 2500
- Three-wheeler: Rs. 2900
- Small and medium four-wheelers: Rs. 3200
- Large vehicles: Rs. 3600
Other required documents
- Copy of citizenship. (Only if the vehicle is owned).
- Copy of company registration certificate or PAN or VAT letter (only if the vehicle is in the name of the company).
- Agreement of the concerned bank in case of vehicles purchased through banking process.
- Copy of the Blue Book containing details about vehicle owners and vehicle registrations.
- Document proving payment of vehicle tax for the current financial year.
- Copy of vehicle’s original registration certificate (Blue Book).
4. All documents will be prepared and informed through SMS for biometric verification at the office.
5. You have to go to the designated transport office for biometrics as well as for installing number plates in the vehicle within the stipulated time.
6. After all the procedures are completed, the embossed number will have to be written in the Blue Book.
