Kathmandu. The process of appointing a new chairman in the Nepal Insurance Authority (INSURANCE) is underway.
The recommendation committee formed by the government has issued a notice on September 29 inviting applications for the appointment of chairman in the Insurance Authority. Eligible interested Nepali citizens can submit a secret envelope to the Financial Sector Management and Institutions Coordination Division of the Ministry of Finance within 7 days of office hours.
A three-member committee was formed under the coordination of National Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Prof Dr Shivaraj Adhikari. Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay is the member of the committee. Khomraj Kharel.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers had sacked sharad ojha, the then chairman of the NRA, on September 27 for lack of work experience. A meeting of the Council of Ministers on February 17 had appointed Ojha, who hails from Kanchanpur, as the chairman. Following Ojha’s dismissal, the government has appointed Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Sewantak Pokharel, as the acting chairman.
Now the recommendation committee will shortlist the names after studying the applications received within the stipulated date. The committee will then call the shortlisted candidates for action plan presentation and interview. And the committee will recommend the names of three candidates to the Council of Ministers on the basis of the marks obtained by these candidates.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers will appoint one of the recommended members as the chairman of the Insurance Authority.
