The investment of two reinsurers is over Rs 38 billion.

Kathmandu. Currently, there are two reinsurance companies. One is the government-owned Nepal Reinsurance Company (Nepal Re) and the other is the privately promoted Himalayan Reinsurance Company.

Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA) has released the current fiscal year 2082. According to the data of the first quarter (July-September), both these reinsurance companies have invested Rs 37.75 billion in various sectors. Himalayan Rico has invested Rs 19.92 billion while Nepal Rico has invested Rs 18.82 billion.

A large part of the investment of these two reinsurance companies is seen in the fixed deposits of the banks. The banks have a total deposit of Rs 18.86 billion. As per the list, Rs 13.29 billion has been invested in ‘A’ class banks, Rs 260 million in infrastructure banks, Rs 1.16 billion in ‘B’ class banks and Rs 150 million in ‘C’ class financial institutions. The share of fixed deposits of banks in the total investment of Nepal Rica is 78.98 percent.

The company invested Rs 9.47 crore in shares of listed public companies, Rs 1.55 billion in shares of banks and financial institutions, Rs 1.55 billion in bonds, debentures and debentures, Rs 554.7 million in citizens investment trust and mutual funds, Rs 596.5 million in other promoter shares, Rs 507.2 million in shares of unlisted public companies and Rs 650 million in other sectors.

On the other hand, Himalayan Relay has invested Rs 10.96 billion in fixed deposits of ‘A’ class banks. This is 57.95 percent of the total investment.

Similarly, Himalayan Relay invested Rs 5.19 billion in shares of listed public companies, Rs 88.84 million in bonds, debentures and debentures, Rs 790 million in shares of Citizen Investment Trust and mutual funds, Rs 1.05 billion in shares of investment companies, Rs 225 million in promoter shares and Rs 4.78 million in other sectors.
