Kathmandu. The government is going to conduct five types of skill-based training.
Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management Foundation (NATHM) under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation is going to conduct skill-based training. NATHM will conduct training for trekking guides, trekking porter guides, basic food preparations(cooks), bakeries and baristas. A total of 710 people will benefit from these trainings.
To get training as a trekking guide, you should have passed plus two or equivalent or passed SEE or equivalent and have two years of experience of working in a registered trekking agency. In the case of trekking porter guide, those who have been trained in the trekking porter guide should have worked in the registered trekking agency for 4 years after obtaining the license.
500 people will be included in the training of trekking guides. The training will be for five weeks and the training fee will be Rs 7,000. The last date for filling the form has been fixed till July 15 and the contact date is July 15. The training will be conducted for the candidates selected through the interview from August 15.
Similarly, to participate in the training of a trekking porter, the applicant should have basic skills to understand and communicate any one international language and have worked as a porter in the trekking sector for two years and have been included in see or equivalent examination. This training will be provided to 110 people. The training will last for 15 days and the training fee will be Rs 3,000. The last date for filling the form has been fixed till August 15 and the contact date is August 23 (after 2 pm). The training will be conducted for the candidates selected from the interview from August 10.
Similarly, to be trained in cooks, bakeries and baristas, you must have at least SEE or equivalent. 40 people will be involved in cook training, 40 in bakery and 20 in barista. The cook’s training will be for three months and the training fee will be Rs 25,000. The training of bakery and barist will be 1-month and the training fee will be Rs 20,000 each. The deadline to fill the forms for all the three types of training is July 15 and the contact date has been fixed for July 15. After the interview, the training will start from the last week of July.
The NATHM has clarified that the training will be conducted only if the number of applicants in the bakery and barist is at least 10. The form can be downloaded and filled from the WEBSITE of NATHM.
