Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has threatened to ban Meta Company in Nepal if it is not registered within seven days.
Minister Gurung made the warning at a department-level interaction on right to information organized by the National Information Commission in Kathmandu on Friday. Stating that only TikTok, Viber and We-Talk have been registered in Nepal so far, he said that Meta is also adamant to register.
Gurung said that despite repeated notices to Meta requesting it to register in Nepal, it did not agree. “The date of the third notice expired a few days ago,” he said, adding, “If the registration is not done within the next seven days, meta will be banned.” ’
Gurung said meta has to pay registration tax in Nepal. “Money from Nepal is going to meta every moment,” he said, adding, “Therefore, registration should be done by following nepal’s legal system.” You have to pay taxes. ’
It is a parent company of popular social networks and apps such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
