Kathmandu. Swavalamban Laghubitta Financial Institution has completed training on distribution of fruit saplings and fruit cultivation under the environment-friendly Swavalamban Model Village Development Program. With the technical support and facilitation of Swavalamban Development Center, 258 fruit saplings of different five species were distributed and a day orientation training on fruit cultivation was held with the objective of developing Budhanilkantha Ward No. 5, Dandagaon as an environment-friendly self-reliant model village.
In the first phase, fruit saplings have been distributed to the group members under the environment-friendly Swavalamban Model Village Development Program launched in coordination with the people and stakeholders to reduce carbon emissions, waste management and create a clean environment by planting trees, increase income by developing entrepreneurship and end unemployment.
Director of Swavalamban Development Centre Satish Shrestha facilitated the training on fruit cultivation. Director Shrestha spoke about the importance of fruit production at the local level and its positive impact on the health and income generation of the rural people.
Similarly, Ramesh Rokaya, agriculture technician at Swavalamban Development Centre, conducted an on-site exercise (land preparation, pit digging, manure matching) related to planting fruit saplings. Suman Shrestha, manager of Swavalamban Laghubitta Financial Institution, informed about the objectives of environment-friendly Swavalamban Model Village Development Program and distribution of fruit saplings and orientation training.
More than 2,000 fruit saplings were distributed through various branches÷ sub-branch offices of Swavalamban Laghubitta Financial Institution Limited in the previous fiscal year, while 654 saplings have been distributed in Dharan, Jaleshwor and Lele in the beginning of this fiscal year 2082÷83.
Narayan Devi Shrestha, Suman Shrestha, Chetnath Bagale of Swavalamban Laghubitta Financial Institution Ltd. Central Office and Kabita Silwal, Office Chief of Branch Office Chuchepati, employees Surya Subedi, Urmila Khadka, Prabin Ranabhat and member parents were present on the occasion.
