Kathmandu. Swavalamban Laghubitta Financial Institution has concluded an interaction programme on environment-friendly village construction. An interaction was held with the stakeholders on Saturday with the objective of making Dandagaun Basti of Budhanilkantha Municipality an environment-friendly self-reliant village.
Anita Tamang, chairperson of the Child Development Society Foundation School Management Committee, chaired the interaction programme organized to build an environment-friendly self-reliant village in coordination with the people and stakeholders to reduce carbon emissions, waste management and plant trees, increase income by developing entrepreneurship and end unemployment.
Mayor of Budhanilkantha Municipality Mitharam Adhikari was the chief guest and Deputy Mayor Anita Lama was the special guest while Suman Shrestha, manager of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Customer Protection and Research at the Central Office, gave a presentation on the concept of building an environment-friendly self-reliant village.
Chief Guest and Mayor Mitharam Adhikari thanked swavalamban microfinance institution for taking the lead in building environment-friendly villages incorporating important issues such as environment protection, entrepreneurship development and employment generation.
Deputy Mayor Anita Lama said the construction of an environment-friendly village was very important, especially as Dandagaon of Budhanilkantha is a beautiful and delightful village, which has immense potential for tourism, but waste management is challenging.
School principal Dhorje Tamang said that the main need of the day is to protect the beauty and environment of Dadangau, so the school and local youth will work together to achieve the goal by mobilizing and coordinating the local youth.
