Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — Prime Minister Sushila Karki took oath of office and secrecy at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Friday night.
President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Chaudhary at a function held at Sheetal Niwas. Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav and other high-ranking government officials and diplomats were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
President Poudel had appointed former Chief Justice Karki as the Prime Minister of the Interim Council of Ministers a while ago.
Karki was appointed as the Prime Minister by exercising the powers of the President as per Article 61 (3 and 4) of the Constitution.
Article 61 (3) states that the President shall promote the national unity of Nepal while Article 4 states that it shall be the primary duty of the President to uphold and protect the constitution.
