Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a show-cause order on a writ petition challenging the appointment of Bishwanath Poudel as the governor of Nepal Rastra Bank( NRB).
A single bench of Justice Abdul Aziz Musalman issued a show-cause order on Wednesday on the appointment of Poudel as governor. A division bench of Justice Muslim has ordered to call both the parties for discussion for an interim order.
Advocates Ananta Raj Luitel, Bishal Thapa and Pratibha Upreti had filed a writ petition on Tuesday seeking cancellation of Poudel’s appointment, saying he did not have the expertise to become governor as mandated by the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058 BS. The writ has claimed that the decision to recommend, appoint and administer oath to Poudel as governor is illegal.
