Kathmandu. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had to step down as president in July 2022 due to protests. At that time, Sri Lanka was facing an economic crisis. On July 14, 2022, the then President of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, resigned after flying to Singapore via the Maldives.
