Social Security Provident Fund distributes Rs. 270 million in six months

Kathmandu. The Employees Provident Fund has distributed nearly Rs. 270 million to the contributors and dependent families under the social security program in the last 6 months.

According to the fund, a total of Rs. 268.7 million has been provided for treatment, maternity care and maternity care under the social security facility till the end of Poush of the current fiscal year 2081.82. This amount has been distributed to 12,573 contributors or their dependent family members.

A total of Rs. 76.4 million has been distributed for the treatment of common diseases. A total of 2,059 of the contributors have received reimbursement for common treatment expenses. As it provides adequate reimbursement for health care expenses compared to non-life insurance companies, the provident fund has been the priority of saver employees for claiming health care expenses.

The fund has provided 76.4 million rupees for the treatment of cancer, kidney disease, brain injury, heart disease and other fatal diseases during a period of 6 months. The fund has been providing such amount on the basis of the certification of fatal disease by a doctor. According to the fund, a total of 655 savers have received such treatment expenses during this period. The Fund has been providing a maximum of Rs. 1 million during the service period for the treatment of fatal diseases.

9,470 women have received Rs. 71 million for maternity care expenses. The Fund has distributed Rs. 11.2 million to 281 families for labor expenses. Rs. 17.25 million has been provided to 86 people under accident compensation.

Under the Contributor Health Treatment Scheme, the Fund reimburses up to Rs. 100,000 in gift expenses for common diseases in each financial year out of the treatment expenses of the Contributor or his/her spouse. Similarly, the fund is distributing up to 1 million rupees during the service period for the treatment of fatal diseases.

According to the fund, it has been providing assistance of 7,500 rupees per child for a maximum of two children under the Maternity and Child Care Scheme, up to 200,000 rupees to the depositor or his heirs under the Accident Compensation Scheme, and 40,000 rupees to the heirs under the Kajkiriya Grant Scheme.
